The Upper West Side section of Manhattan is one of the largest areas in the borough. On the west side of Central Park, the area is not to be confused with the Upper East Side. While the area is similar in affluence, the west side is more inviting with cultural venues and youthful attractions.

Neighborhood Guide: Chelsea

As the city's first theater district and major fashion district, Chelsea has remained in the spotlight since its founding in 1750. Some examples of Chelsea's past that still remain are the Chelsea Hotel, 1800's architecture of affluent Cushman Row or the Otis elevator building.

From old to new, Chelsea has retained its sense of artistry and high culture.

Review: Cafe Fiorello

Antipasto Bar at Cafe Fiorello
Where: Upper West Side, 1900 Broadway btwn. 63rd & 64th streets
When: After picking up my new iphone (note: Go to Apple Manhasset where they feed you ice cream while you wait)
What: Italian Cuisine
The Verdict:

Outdoor seating with open windows at Cafe Fiorello

Feature: The Metropolitan

Robot Mural in the enclosed courtyard at The Metropolitan
Williamsburg is home of the new Metropolitan on Metropolitan Avenue. While this building has had its up’s and down’s throughout construction, it has finally come together in the artsy neighborhood. The sudden switch from developer Avi Galapo  to a new developer has seemed to improve the building. As of yet, there have been 36 rentals leased. Architect Gary H. Silver P.C. proudly noted the building design to maximize light and air into each unit. In addition to the metal panel facade, the building exterior prominently features gold Jerusalem stone.

This has been credited to their quality reputation as a management company with successes including Barclay Towers and Liberty Plaza.

In recent years, the borough has been giving Manhattan a run for its money in the luxury rental market. The attention that many Manhattanites have been giving it has not gone unnoticed.

A Trip to Williamsburg...

The art scene of Williamsburg flourishes amongst old factories
I must first apologize to Williamsburg for not visiting sooner. Even though I use the bridge quite often, I never take the time to visit the area except for gas at the Meeker/Morgan exit. I finally visited when deciding to try one of the best reviewed Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn, Don Pancho’s. To be honest, when I was driving through the area I expected a hipster takeover but got a blend of new meets old.
