Restaurants Reaction Leaves Ortiz Feeling 'Salty'


As a salt lover myself, the recent proposal to ban salt from NYC restaurants is ridiculous. Representative Felix Ortiz of Brooklyn introduced Bill A. 10129 recently which states, "No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of food for consumption by customers".Ortiz later stated that the bill is to prevent only additional salt added after preparation.

The Financial District is the business epicenter of New York City. As the financial capital of the world, the area is populated with banking corporations to high end flagship stores serving the business crowd. While FiDi, as it is affectionately known, can get seemingly abandoned at night, the crime rate is pretty much nonexistant. With the introduction of several upscale condominiums and rentals to the area, Wall St is becoming more residential. For entertainment, nearby South Street Seaport has a number of apparel shops, restaurants,weekend concerts, among many other attractions.
